A: Nothing – the feature set is exactly the same. Customers are now able to easily enable (or disable) the full Symphony feature set without having to install or uninstall any software – just activate the license through the Avid License Control Utility.
Q: What is different between Media Composer 7 and Media Composer 7 with the Symphony Option?
A: Media Composer 7 with the Symphony Option includes the same feature set as previous versions of the Symphony stand-alone software. By adding the Symphony Option to your Media Composer 7 software, you enable Universal Mastering, the full Symphony Color Correction feature set, which includes secondary color correction, and Boris Continuum Complete v8.x.
Q: Can I activate a Symphony Option on Media Composer: Interplay Edition?
A: The Symphony Option can be activated on either Media Composer or Media Composer: Interplay Edition – the option works the same with both editions of the software.
Q: How does license activation work?
A: The Symphony Option requires a separate Activation ID to activate the license – much like the ScriptSync or PhraseFind Options. Upon purchase of a new Media Composer 7 license with a Symphony Option, customers will receive two Activation Cards – one with a System ID and Download Code for the Media Composer 7 license, and another with a Download Code for the Symphony Option. Customers must redeem both of these Download Codes on the Avid Account page (http://www.avid.com/activationcard) to receive their System ID/Activation ID for Media Composer 7 as well as an Activation ID for the Symphony Option.
Q: How does the Symphony Option activation card work?
A: The Symphony Option is activated or deactivated in the same manner as the editing application like the ScriptSync and PhraseFind Options, which are activated through the Avid License Control Utility.
Q: How do you activate the Symphony Option 30 day Software Trial?
A: Customers will activate the Symphony Option 30 day Trial through the Avid Marketplace menu within the Media Composer Editing application.
Q: Do I have to install anything extra?
A: No, just like the PhraseFind and ScriptSync Options , you don’t need to install anything on top of Media Composer 7. Simply activate the Symphony Option license via the Avid License Control Utility.
Q: Can I deactivate just the Symphony Option?
A: Yes, customers can deactivate the Symphony Option at any time and just run as a Media Composer 7 license - the license is activated/deactivated via the Avid License Control Utility.

A: The Symphony Option can be activated on one Media Composer 7 system at a time. It is not restricted, however, to a single Media Composer 7 license.
